Cracking Ceramics! Makers and Making

Join us for more exciting discoveries from the amazing ceramics collection at the Museum.  We start the year looking at ‘Makers and Making’ in new displays of different materials and decorating techniques, and some of the best known ceramic artists and companies of the last 150 years.

Highlights from the excellent Moorcroft collection celebrate how their unique designs are created, and new loans from the De Morgan Foundation show how William De Morgan developed his techniques with lustre glazes.  Also on show will be examples from Doulton, Martin Brothers, Wedgwood, Spode and studio potters Eileen Lewenstein, Barbara Cass and Walter Keeler. We are delighted to welcome on loan a number of pieces by Gordon Baldwin from the Anthony Shaw Collection from The Centre of Ceramic Art at York Art Gallery.
