Free Archaeology Events at Cannon Hall Museum

The following Archaeology events will be taking place from November 2019 - April 2020:


Archaeology in the Garden - Sunday 24 November (11am - 3pm)

Learn the basics about archaeology and practice how you can read the past in your surroundings through a talk and walking survey of Cannon Hall's Gardens.

 

Archaeology of Houses & Gardens - Sunday 8 December (11am - 3pm)

We will delve into the history and archaeology of stately homes, and then head outside to look for the signs of how Cannon Hall has changed through time.

 

Bring Your Finds Day - Thursday 16 January (1pm - 3pm)

Bring in your own discoveries! Experts from the Portable Antiquities Scheme will be on hand to help identify and record your finds.

 

Medieval Landscape & the Industrial Revolution - Sunday 9 February (11am - 3pm)

Going deeper into the past, we will investigate how landscapes have changed through time and discover what remains of Cannon Hall's medieval past.


Archaeological Bulding Recording - Sunday 8 March (11am - 3pm)

Learn how to read historic buildings and help us investigate the cosed off cellars of Cannon Hall with this talk and hands-on workshop.


What We Have Learned About Cannon Hall - Sunday 5 April

Join us for family activities (11am - 3pm) on the lawn throughout the day followed by a talk in the afternoon (3.30pm - 5.30pm - booking essential) revealing what has been discovered this last year at Cannon Hall.
