The Spencer Stanhope Family Tree

This family tree traces the Spencer Stanhope family across multiple generations, beginning in the early 18th century and extending into the early 20th century. At the top generation, families such as John Stanhope (1702–1769) and Walter Stanhope (1704–1759) are shown, each married into other notable families (like the Cockcroft and Spencer families), establishing the foundation of the lineage.

Moving down the tree, these lines converge through descendants such as Walter Spencer Stanhope (1749–1821), who married Mary Winifred Pulleine, and through connections with the Coke family via the marriage of Jane Dutton and Thomas Coke. These marriages demonstrate how wealth, status, and family influence were strengthened by linking prominent families together.

In the next generations, the family expands further through children and marriages into other influential families, including the Pickering and Buxton families. For example, Sir Walter Spencer Stanhope (1827–1911) married Elizabeth Julia Buxton, while Anna Maria Wilhelmina Spencer Stanhope (1824–1901) married Percival Pickering, showing how different branches of the family spread out.

By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the lineage continues with figures such as John Montague Spencer Stanhope (1860–1944) and Mary Gertrude Spencer Stanhope (1857–1944), indicating the continuation of the family line into more modern times.
